Dog Training & Behavior Consulting for Veterinary Clients

When a client asks who you recommend for dog training and behavior
– we hope you'll recommend Preventive Vet's Pupstanding Academy!

Veterinarians and veterinary staff are often the first people a dog owner turns to with dog training or behavior questions.

We know that it can be challenging to answer questions due to time constraints or simply not being comfortable providing expert behavior advice. We're here to help!

Virtual Dog Training & Behavior Consults

Not every community has a certified trainer, canine behavior consultant, or veterinary behaviorist. Our virtual dog training services, provided through Preventive Vet's Pupstanding Academy, help fill the gap. And our services complement what local service providers offer.

Pupstanding Academy helps you:

  • save time,
  • increase staff safety,
  • build client loyalty, and
  • give your clients the resources they need by connecting them with a certified dog trainer and behavior consultant.

Pupstanding Academy offers professional support for clients anywhere in the world.

We want to make it easy for dog owners to get professional training and behavior help, no matter their location.

Through virtual workshops, courses, and one-on-one coaching sessions, clients receive training plans customized for their goals, lifestyle, and individual dog.

Our Training Approach & Philosophy

At Preventive Vet, we feel it's important that training is conducted by a certified professional using positive reinforcement and force-free methods. This is why we started Pupstanding Academy, our own virtual dog training academy – available to any dog owner across the country, even internationally.

Overall wellness, health, and safety are paramount in our course material and training approach. We make sure participants are guided to discuss health and medical issues with their veterinarian, as we value the relationship you have with your clients. We also highlight cooperative care in the relevant workshops, making veterinary and grooming visits safer and less stressful for everyone.

Virtual dog training has benefits for both the pet owner and their dog. Our workshops don't replace in-person puppy socialization and basic training classes but are a complement to them – diving into topics often overlooked or not discussed in detail in in-person puppy classes. During a time when social distancing may still be prevalent and training classes are limited in availability, virtual training is ideal. Our topics and approach to training help set up dogs and their families for life-long success.

Having a training resource to recommend that you can trust is not only valuable for your clients but makes your life a little easier too, as we know that there just isn't enough time to go through training or problem behavior topics in great detail.

Preventive Vet's mission is one hundred percent focused on educating pet owners about health, safety, and behavior, and doing so in a responsible way that helps prevent suffering. All the while supporting, not replacing the relationship they have (or should have) with their veterinarian, but rather encouraging it. Our education team is comprised of veterinarians and certified behavior professionals. For us, health and mental well-being go hand-in-hand.

"I feel blessed to be a part of a dog owner’s support team, and having a veterinarian working as part of the process not only helps us achieve training goals more quickly but helps provide more complete and holistic treatment. Physical health plays a huge role in mental health and behavior. By working together, trainers, behavior consultants, and veterinary teams can help every dog live better and safer lives.

Behavioral issues are one of the leading reasons for relinquishing a pet, which makes it so important for pet owners everywhere to be able to access effective and humane training techniques. Many issues are preventable, which is why I prioritize preventive and proactive training. It’s never too early — or too late — to start training a dog! It all comes down to easily-accessible correct education and support.”
