Ways to Use Your iClean mini

Dog and Cat Toys

Studies show it can reduce harmful bacteria, such as E. coli – a common bacteria found on dog and cat toys – and Salmonella by 99.999% in 5 minutes. Additionally, in 5 minutes, it can reduce parvovirus by 99.44%.

Cleaning: Completely spray the toy and let it sit for 5 minutes or more. No rinsing or scrubbing is necessary.

Pet Food and Water Bowls

Food and water bowls have been found in studies to contain a high bacterial diversity, such as Listeria, Pasteulla sp., Bacillus sp., as well as pathogenic strains of E. coli, Salmonella, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Especially for dogs and cats who eat raw food diets, daily disinfection is important. Studies indicate that these diets can contain Salmonella and Listeria, which are harmful to people. Handling their bowls or toys and then touching your mouth puts you at risk of accidental ingestion. 

The FDA recommends that pet food bowls be cleaned after each meal and water bowls be cleaned daily. And that means more than a quick wipe of a rag in order to help remove bacterial microbes that could pose a health risk to pets and people.

Cleaning: Completely spray the inside of the bowl(s) and let sit for 5 minutes or more. No rinsing or scrubbing is necessary.

Litter Box Cleaning and Odor Elimination

Soiled litter can harbor various kinds of bacteria, such as Campylobacter or Salmonella, and parasites, such as Toxoplasmosis, roundworms, or hookworms, which some are zoonotic (people can become infected)*.

The strong odor that is sometimes present is due to the natural urea, which is turned to ammonia by bacteria as well as the natural pheromones in a cat’s urine. Additionally, certain medical issues, such as urinary tract infections, diabetes, or kidney disease, can also cause odor problems to exist in litterboxes.

Pet Beds

Pet beds become the "bank" where pets deposit dirt, drool, food particles, snot, and anything else they tend to carry around with them. That is why they easily and quickly become grimy and quite smelly.

But besides those seemingly harmless deposits, pet beds can also harbor harmful bacteria such as MRSA (a deadly and highly infectious disease), parasites*, ringworm spores*, urine, and more.

Then there is the matter of fecal matter, which has its own array of bacteria, including Salmonella and Listeria. This is especially concerning for those who are immunocompromised or prone to infections.

Paw Cleaning

Pets pick up germs when they walk outside, and then they track them indoors. This can pose a problem for anyone, but especially children and immunocompromised people. Common pathogens pets track in are Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus, Aspergillus (a common mold that is inhaled), and more.

Cleaning: We recommend using the iClean mini to spray on a clean cloth or disposable dry wipes like these and then clean your pet's paws. This process doesn't introduce any harsh chemicals to their paws that they could lick off.

Potty Accidents

After cleaning up the bulk of the mess, it is a good idea to further disinfect the area where your pet soiled, especially if children or immunocompromised individuals are living in your household. For example, a pup’s stool contains bacteria, such as Salmonella and E. coli, that can cause people to get sick. In fact, just one gram (.035 ounces) of poop contains about 23 million coliform bacteria!

Testing showed that the aqueous ozone reduced both Salmonella and E. coli by 99.999% in less than 5 minutes.

Cleaning: Spot clean stains and messes from the fabric, floors, beds, etc. Cover the surface area with the solution and leave for 5 minutes or more. No scrubbing or rinsing is necessary.
